How to Uninstall Qmail

Qmail installation can be uninstalled using below steps .

qmail uninstallation setps:
#################################

Goto following folder location which consisting of uninstall script for various platforms

#cd /downloads/qmailrocks/scripts/uninstall/

#ll

Output:

total 8

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 618 Mar 10  2005 redhat_uninstall.script

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 560 Mar 10  2005 solaris_uninstall.script

[root@monitoring uninstall]#

 

Execute following script to uninstalling Qmail on Redhat or Centos

#./redhat_uninstall.script

Edit following file and remove the  SVS entry .

#vi /etc/inittab

SV:123456:respawn:/command/svscanboot       (Remove this entry from inittab configuration file)

Verify SVS processes are not running  , if you find any running process for svs using below commnad

#ps -ef|grep svs

Output :

 [root@monitoring uninstall]# ps -ef |grep svs

root      2644     1  0 Jan04 ?        00:00:00 /bin/sh /command/svscanboot

root      2679  2644  0 Jan04 ?        00:00:05 svscan /service

root      5016  4540  0 18:08 pts/0    00:00:00 grep svs

[root@monitoring uninstall]#

In above output there are processes running related svs service , you can kill the process by applying process ID as below.

#kill -9  2644

#kill -9  2674

Verify Qmail Services running

# ps -ef | grep qmail

You can kill the process by applying process ID as below

# kill -9 *** (qmail process)
#clear

#cd /downloads/

#ls

#rm -rf qmailrocks

#tar -zxvf qmailrocks.tar.gz

Both comments and pings are currently closed.
