Linux login without any password from windows using PUTTY

The process is used to login remote Linux machine through putty from windows machine. Communication between windows client and Linux Server can be made through  putty by creating pair of keys (public and private).

This guide will help you to configure password less login to remote Linux machine from windows client using putty.

Steps :

Step 1 : To login without password from windows machine to linux using putty can be configured by following  procedure

Step 2 : After generation of two keys save private keys without any pass-phrase in .ppk extension and public keys can be copied  and paste it in to the authorized_keys file of remote linux machine i.e(192.168.1.11) /root/.ssh/authorized_keys

Step 3 : Copy the public key file and copy the lines to the newly created authorized_keys in .ssh/

Step 4 :  You can check the file by the command

Step 5 : After the completion of above steps you can login from windows client using putty to a Linux terminal without any password provided to it.

Let us see the steps in Details :

Step 1 : To login without password from windows  machine to linux using putty can be configured by following  procedure

Go to START search for puttygen and generate the public/private keys.

Step 2 : After generation of two keys save private keys without any passphrase in .ppk extension and public keys can be copied  and paste it in to the authorized_keys file of remote linux machine i.e(192.168.1.11) /root/.ssh/authorized_keys

Step 3 : Copy the public key file and copy the lines to the newly created authorized_keys in .ssh/

login to your user in putty and open .ssh then copy the public key file lines to the newly created authorized_keys in .ssh/

#cd .ssh/

#vi authorized_keys

save and exit.

Step 4 :  You can check the file by the command

#ls –l .ssh/authorized_keys

Then run putty, in that provide ip address and data i.e. user name by which you want to access and click on ssh you can see for auth in that provide private.ppk path.

Step 5 : After the completion of above steps you can login from windows client using putty to a Linux terminal without any password provided to it.
